Made for More: Prioritizing Scholarships at Temple

For nearly 150 years, Temple University has existed as a beacon of opportunity for generations of Owls—the eager learners who have used their education to catalyze meaningful careers as influential leaders and engaged global citizens. Now, at a time when society’s greatest challenges demand bold, ambitious thinkers, we call upon the Temple community to help us create access to a world-class education for the aspiring leaders and changemakers of tomorrow.

It isn’t a lack of drive or ambition that holds students back from accepting admission to Temple, it is the inability to overcome financial barriers that prevent them from realizing those dreams.

Join us in our mission to make a Temple education more affordable by closing a very real financial gap for many students and families. Scholarship support is a chance to transform lives and invest in the next generation of Owls. Become a part of Made for More: Prioritizing Scholarships at Temple to be the difference for our students.

At Temple, our students know that they are "made for more." They know they are made for empowering communities, breaking down barriers and catalyzing change in the world.

But they can’t do it alone.

"These past four years have been rough for me. I have worked very hard to keep my grades up, even as we suffered losses in my family. I kept my head high but when COVID came along, it worsened many things and going virtual was a struggle. Despite this, I still did everything I could to maintain my dream of getting a degree and working hard for the life that I want. More recently, things have been very smooth for me and that is in part because of this scholarship. This opportunity will push me to do better than I ever had before because I know that I have the support from a donor in my corner. I refuse to let you down. You didn’t have to do this, but you chose to, and I am grateful beyond words."

"It is an absolute honor to be chosen as the recipient of this award and words cannot express my gratitude. As a first-generation immigrant from Poland, I always strive to perform double the work and put extra effort into everything I do. Not having my family here in the U.S. with me forces me to work two jobs, so this award not only encourages me to keep going but provides me with additional financial help. As a girl from a small city in Poland, I never dared to dream of moving to the U.S. on my own and having those amazing opportunities, so I always make sure I give back to the people around me."

"Receiving this award has made a significant impact on my ability to pursue my education at Temple University and achieve my academic goals. The financial assistance provided by the Broad Street Finish Line Grant scholarship has alleviated a significant burden and allowed me to focus on my studies, work, and family without worrying about financial constraints. I am determined to make the most of this incredible opportunity. I am currently a civil engineering major here at Temple University. My goal is to finish as a shining star with a bright future. Taking class at night, while working during the day for the Philadelphia Water Department hasn’t been easy but it has been worth the time and effort. The faculty, students, and staff have all made this process enjoyable and I look forward to graduating with honors. I am confident that with the support of the Broad Street Finish Line Grant Scholarship, I will be able to graduate at the top of my class, while moving into a civil engineering position at my place of work."

"Receiving this scholarship allows me to continue chasing my dreams. The earnest investment in my future goals will not be forgotten. I am most grateful for the belief and support that will help fund the expenses of my education at Temple University. Although my academic journey as a first-generation college student has not been an easy one, I am proud to admit that my perseverance has led me to pursue many ups and downs on this academic journey."

"Thank you for your great support. Your generosity has not only lifted financial burdens but has become an encouragement for me and my family. My family and I see this scholarship as hope for the future. As the first in my family to pursue higher education, I am currently a mechanical engineer at Temple University. My goal is to excel academically and secure a position in my major field. This scholarship lightens the load in pursuit of this dream, and it allows me to better focus on my studies, as well as participate more in robotics. I intend to pay this kindness forward to others in need, hopefully in the same way. The impact of your kindness will vibrate through the positive changes I will bring to my community and field."

Scholarship: Alwine Family Scholarship

"Receiving this scholarship greatly reduced the financial burden of tuition on me and my family. It allowed me to focus more on the education I was receiving than the cost. It has allowed me to afford a super-commute from Philly to NYC 3 days a week this summer for my internship with Paramount Pictures! This would have been much more difficult to achieve without the financial support of the Alwine Family. It means the world that you value the impact of higher education so greatly that you actively make it easier for others to pursue. Your gift is creating such a positive impact on my life! Thank you!"
