Peru Dental Mission: Help Us Save Orphans' Smiles in Peru

We are a student-run organization of Temple dental students and Temple dental faculty who are passionate about improving the oral and overall health of nearly 800 children who live at La Sagrada Familia orphanage outside of Lima, Peru.

Founded in 2012 by a dual degree Dental/Masters in Public Health student at Temple University, the group will travel to the orphanage for the fourth time this summer to provide oral health education in addition to a full range of dental services.

In order to provide much-needed services like dental sealants, cleanings, and fillings, our group is in desperate need of portable dental units. Our group is looking to purchase TWO Aseptico Express Air II units for our annual trips to the orphanage with your help. Each unit costs $4,470. Without these units, we can only provide dental extractions and our team hopes to save as many teeth as possible, not take them out!

In just 5.5 days in June 2014, we were able to provide over $35,000 in dental services for these beautiful children. We borrowed two portable dental units last summer that are unfortunately no longer available to us. Purchasing these units will be an incredible investment to ensure we can continue providing high-quality dental care to these children year after year. We hope to replicate our program locally at an orphanage in the Philadelphia region within the next year as well, so these portable dental units will be continue to improve the oral health of children both locally and globally.
